What to Expect on Your First Farm Visit

    Back to Journal

When you pull down the drive at Bryant Creek, expect a working farm. Two big white livestock guardian dogs will greet you first. Someone from the family will come out within a minute or two.

    Before you come

Every farm visit is by appointment or scheduled pickup. Text us at 412-491-9503 to coordinate. Drop-ins to the farmstand are welcome once it opens, but the rest of the property is not open to the public.

    When you arrive

Park in the gravel area by the barn. Stay in your car for a minute so Taco and Tequila can announce you. They are friendly, but they are big.

    What you will see

Chickens on grass, pigs rooting in a wooded pen, guardian dogs on patrol, and a family that lives here. Not a museum. Not a photo set.

    What to wear

Closed-toe shoes you do not mind getting muddy. Long pants in summer for the tall grass. A jacket in shoulder seasons.

    Waivers

Any visit beyond a farmstand pickup requires a signed liability waiver for every adult and every child. We will send it to you before you come.

    What is off limits

  1. The bee yard
  2. Any pen with animals actively being worked
  3. The equipment shed
  4. Everything else, we are happy to show you.
