The best time to visit is the first two hours after sunrise. The animals are active, the light is beautiful, and the temperature is comfortable in every season.
Morning: the farm at work
Chickens are foraging hardest right after sunrise. Pigs are up and rooting. The pasture has dew on it and the guardian dogs are still doing their rounds.
Mid-day: quiet hours
Between about 11am and 2pm the animals shelter in shade. The pasture looks empty because everyone is smart enough to avoid the heat.
Evening: golden hour
The second-best window is the hour before sunset. Chickens filter back to the coop, pigs come out to eat again, and the light is soft.
